Can Cannabidiol Help Frontline Healthcare Workers with Emotional Exhaustion?

Frontline physicians, nurses, and therapists working with COVID-19 patients were found to have fewer emotional exhaustion symptoms on treatment with cannabidiol (CBD), revealed the BONSAI randomized clinical trial.

There was a considerable reduction in the scores on the emotional exhaustion subscale of the Maslach Burnout Inventory at days 14, 21, and 28 among 120 healthcare workers who were randomly allocated to receive either CBD 300 mg plus standard care or standard care alone, reported researchers in JAMA Network Open. Five subjects, all in the CBD group, had serious adverse events, with four cases having elevated liver enzymes and one case with severe pharmacodermia, which recovered after treatment discontinuation… (Medpage Today)
